The locomotive was taken out of traffic in 2020 as a number of jobs were in need of being completed on the brake gear and motion.
This has now been completed by the owner and a small group of Llangollen Railway volunteers, to prepare for when the railway is allowed to reopen.
3802 needed to have an insurance company boiler exam before being allowed to run.
The final steam exam was completed on the 14th June and staff took the opportunity to complete some running in to prove the work that was completed.
Iain Ross, from the Llangollen Railway, told RailAdvent “By taking it (3802) into Llangollen station it shows that the volunteers have the aspirations to succeed in reopening the railway again.”
“There’s still a lot of work to be done before we run trains again, but there is a dedicated team of volunteers working towards that. We always welcome new volunteers and donations.”
