Midlands Connect encourages businesses to have their say on new Midlands Rail Hub

Midlands Connect released the short online business survey today (Mon, 8th of May) to support the future strategy and plans for the flagship rail improvement programme – .

The transport project research and development specialist wishes to urge local businesses on the route to take the survey.

Businesses have until Friday the 16th of June when the survey closes and results will be released shortly after.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and can be found by clicking here.

As passenger rail usage continues to grow faster in the Midlands than elsewhere in the UK and requires investment to keep up with demand and at present, many services remain slow and infrequent.

Marking Midland Connects most ambitious rail improvement programme, Midland Rail Hub is a £900m to £1.5bn scheme which will provide faster, better and more frequent connections for the Midlands for over 30 locations including Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Nuneaton, Worcester, Hereford, Cardiff, Bristol, Cheltenham and Leicester. The vast project will see 1.6 million more people able to reach large towns and cities within an hour using public transport.

The Midlands Rail Hub will build two ‘chords’ alongside 11 further engineering projects across the regions, which will mark a huge boost for rail transport. The project will also allow the benefits of HS2 to be maximised whilst supporting 1,600 engineering and construction .

Andy Clark, Midlands Connect Senior Rail Programme Manager said:“We are calling on employers and businesses throughout the Midlands to get involved in our online consultation to ensure their voices are heard. We want to know what the impact the Midlands Rail Hub could have on businesses and specifically if it could lead to more jobs being created and increased growth in the local economy.”

“Through providing new chords and platforms in , it provides capacity for up to ten additional trains per hour in and out of the city, to locations in the Midlands and beyond.  We are really keen to hear from businesses in Bromsgrove, Nuneaton, , and firms throughout the Midlands and all the data given to us by local businesses will be weaved into future work we are submitting to government to help make the case for investment in this nationally critical rail project.”

Why is even East Midlands Parkway even Selected for HS2 it’s the most pointless station on the MML biult in 2009 some 6 miles from the airport it serves only accessible since covid via Taxi that will Sting you because they know your traped trying to force ridership thought such a useless station seriously it should have just Terminated at Derby or Nottingham before riding the Natonal network, but EMP I’d rather see close it douse nothing but cause a deliberate delay on the line if you want to go to East Midlands International Airport get off a Loughborough Derby or Nottingham and ride the Skylink busses in

    1. Sometimes bosses at Rail Companies are not born with good brains, so they don’t always think first, before building a line that goes nowhere.
