0

Green Ayre RisesThis Bank Holiday weekend (1st-2nd May 2016) at Lancaster Library, you have the chance to see Lancasters Lost Station come back to life.

50 years ago the Green Ayre line was closed.

You now have the opportunity to see the result of years of hard work by the Wakefield Railway Modellers Society.

The 40′ x 20′ model railway layout is the work of Jamie Guest, and other members of the society.

Also at the event will be unique film and audio material showing the line on its last day operating in 1966, showing a return journey from Morecambe to Lancaster.

There will also be a guided walk to the site of the old stations, and railway memorabilia will be on display in the Library. There will be railway related activities for children too.

In addition, courtesy of Virgin Trains, there will be an opportunity to see behind the scenes at Lancaster station.

You can also enter a raffle to raise funds for St. Johns Hospice, and be in with a chance to win prizes including a pair of 1st Class tickets for travel on Virgin West Coast.

The Central Library is open from 10am – 4pm and admission is £2 for Adults and just £1 for children/concessions, with all proceeds being donated to St. Johns Hospice in Lancaster
