has warned its customers throughout the North of England ‘Do Not Travel’ whilst the strikes are taking place on 13th-14th and 16th-18th December

The RMT is carrying out further strike action made up of two 48-hour walkouts which will take place on the 13th and 14th of December and the 16th and 17th of December. Northern is also warning of further impact between the strike days on the 15th of December which in effect equals a five-day travel ban for rail passengers.

Most of Northern’s services will be cancelled whilst the strike action is underway with just a small number of services operating as well as the majority of its 500+ stations being closed.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “This is the last thing we want to do in the run-up to Christmas, but with the RMT pressing ahead with these 48-hour strikes, we have no option but to advise customers not to travel. We can only apologise once again for the disruption their action will cause.”
