Railway staff working for 14 train operating companies and Network Rail are to go on strike this October in a row over job security, pay and working conditions.
The union says that the 24 hour action on October 1st will bring the railway ‘to an effective standstill' and comes after no further offers from the industry were tabled.
In separate disputes on the 1st October, Arriva Rail London, Hull Trains bus workers from First Group South West will join Network Rail, Chiltern Railways, Cross Country Trains, Greater Anglia, LNER, East Midlands Railway, c2c, Great Western Railway ,Northern, South Eastern, South Western Railway, Transpennine Express, Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains, GTR (including Gatwick Express) in strikes.
At least it won’t make much difference on Avanti West Coast as they barely bother with weekend services these days. Disgraceful company should be stripped of its franchise.
