The Severn Valley Railway has announced that their purple locomotive is set to haul its first trains this weekend.
For the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Severn Valley Railway repainted 34027 Taw Valley into a special purple livery.
A vote was held and Taw Valley is now set to be renamed ‘Elizabeth II’.
The new locomotive was unveiled last month prior to the Spring Steam Gala in its new eye-catching livery. You can watch a video here.
Whilst No. 70 Elizabeth II will not have its name plates this weekend, as they are reserved for its official naming ceremony on the 2nd June, it is rostered to haul the return trip of S2 on Saturday 14th May.
The first train of the day for ‘Elizabeth II’ will be the 12:30 from Bridgnorth.
No. 70 is also rostered to be in operation on Sunday 15th May, hauling the S1 diagram.
