National Rail are offering 50% off Interrail 1, 2 and 3 Month Global Passes from the 6th to the 10th of May to celebrate 50 years of Interrail across Europe

Interrail offers a great way to explore the continent and its stunning landscapes in a green and low carbon way. The Global Pass will provide customers with the chance to enjoy limitless travel using the national railways of 33 countries that take part in the scheme as well as some ferry lines that also participate.

With sale prices now available until the 10th of May, the offer provides a great chance to plan an incredible summer family holiday. Using the sale prices, a family Global Pass for two adults and two children, valid for 1 month to travel to Europe would cost £562 and would usually be £1,162. Children up to the age of 11 travel free!

The discount is also great for customers thinking about a ‘Golden Gap Year’ whether travelling solo, as a couple or group, its never been a better time to organise a trip of a lifetime. Interrail offers the freedom to go wherever and whenever by train from only £211 with the discount (usually £423) for one month of adventure and exploration, for those wanting to pay a little extra and travel first class, a discounted ticket costs from £281 (usually £563).

National Rail recommends the following Interrail train journeys for breath-taking travel this summer:

  • Croatia’s night train – Take the night train from Zagreb to Split. Enjoy the cool night breeze and wake up to the incredibly scenic views of the Dalmatian mountains all the way down to sea level. During the summer season, the train runs daily. Interrail Passes that include Croatia are valid for the entire route.
  • Germany’s Black Forest route – From Offenburg to Hornberg this train travels through an abundance of grassy fields and tiny quaint villages, through cool pine forests all the way to the final destination of Lake Constance. The route is 150km long and ascends 650 meters. Interrail Passes valid for Germany can be used on all Deutsche Bahn run Black Forest Train lines
  • Spain’s Algeciras to Ronda route – Eleven stations between Algeciras and Ronda have seen the preservation of many of the classics of its British engineering from 1890 including single-story stations, old station clocks, and all of the original hand-operated points and signals. On RENFE trains customers can enjoy the lap of luxury for the almost two-hour journey. All RENFE lines are included with an Interrail Pass covering Spain, however, reservations may be required
  • Macedonia’s history and mountains route – On the train from Skopje, pass by Tetovo’s decorative Sarena Mosque, or travel to the southern mountains. The route offers endless choices and as Macedonian Railways are in the Global Pass, will enable cross border travel.
  • Austria’s Semmering route – Built between 1848 and 1854, the line was the first railway to be put on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. The route is also well-known as the world’s first true mountain railway. Offering spectacular mountain-scape, tunnels and viaducts along the way there’s no chance of getting bored. Interrail Passes for Austria are valid on the Semmering line with no supplement or reservation required.

“Many of us are increasingly concerned about our personal impact on the environment, and what we can do to lessen it. We hope that this great offer on Interrail Global Passes will help more people enjoy sustainable and scenic adventures by train this summer”.
