The Stanier Mogul Fund has confirmed that working parties have been granted permission to work on their London, Midland and Scottish Railway Stainer Class 5 2-6-0 ‘Mogul’ No.42968 at the Severn Valley Railway.
Work by Severn Valley Railway (SVR) Staff
Firstly the staff have fitted the left-hand side top slidebar. This will now allow measurements to be taken to machine the crossheads to the correct size.
They have also made the copper sandpipes up for volunteers to fit.
Work by Volunteers
With most of the copper pipes for the sand and steam pipes ready, volunteers have been busy fixing them in place, including drilling holes where needed. The cab’s roof has been stripped of its old paint, and new primer applied. Vents in the roof have been disassembled to ensure no spot is missed.
