London North Eastern Railway has announced that their new Azuma trains will be introduced into passenger services to and from Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness for the first time.
Azuma services have been introduced between Glasgow Central and London King's Cross from Monday 23 September 2019.
Azuma trains will begin operating the LNER service between Glasgow Central and London King's Cross service in each direction.
LNER Azumas replace the current Class 91 and Mk4 trains serving the route.
What did the officials say?
David Horne added:
“Azuma is a revolutionary train and we are thrilled to launch Azuma services to and from Glasgow, a city with innovation at its heart.
“I am delighted that Azuma will be introduced on our Aberdeen and Inverness routes over the coming months. This will mean that Azuma will be calling at all of our Scottish destinations, marking an important moment in the rollout of the new trains and helping us to transform the travel experience for customers.”

When will the Class 801 Electric Azumas are due to enter service so that it can start to replace the Class 91 Mk4 Intercity fleets. As the Class 800 Bi-mode Azumas have begun and are replacing the Class 43 HST Mk3 and Class 91 Mk4 Intercity fleets on the East Coast Main Line. With new services to be announced by LNER.
