WATCH: Class 37 locomotive farewell tour in Cumbria

Northern and Direct Rail Services operated their Class 37 farewell train on Friday 11th January 2019, and we have been lucky enough to be sent some footage of the trains.

The Class 37s were on hire from Direct Rail Services (DRS) and operated between Barrow-In-Furness and Carlisle via Ravenglass.

However, Northern will now be operating diesel multiple units on the route, replacing the Class 37s on the route, which have served this line for the past 3 years.

Thanks to Josh Haworth, we have been lucky enough to share this video footage as well as various photos of the last day of the workings.

The video features 37409 and 37425 hauling the farewell tour and is seen at a variety of places on the route.

There hasn’t been any confirmation yet as to what the Class 37s and Mk2 coaches will now work in the country.

A big thank you to Josh Haworth for sending us the video and the images!

  1. Watched it on Nodrog’s youtube channel. Very sad to see the Class 37 end its duties because of new trains that Northern have ordered will soon be operated on routes including the Windermere Line.
