November has seen a few more new components delivered and work continuing on 82045‘s frame.

Water Tanks and Sieve Box

The biggest news of November for the build project is both water tanks for the new standard 3 tank have arrived in Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway.

Short-term they will be placed on a well wagon, until the frame is ready to receive them. The tanks were manufactured at Dinas on the Welsh Highland railway

Construction has also finished on the Sieve Box. The role for this part is to remove impurities, such as dirt, from the water stored in the tanks before passing through the injectors.

Recent work on the frame has seen various brackets fixed into place with rivets. This includes the front support brackets for the water tanks, support brackets for mechanical lubricators and brackets for the reversing shaft’s bearings.

Since I was a child, I have been a big fan of steam locomotives. This enthusiasm has been become greater in recent years, leading to me becoming involved in a society restoring a standard gauge locomotive. Joining the RailAdvent team in 2017, I help Michael produce articles.
