Rail Minister Andrew Jones today announced that customers delayed while travelling on Northern services are now eligible to claim compensation for journeys delayed by 15 minutes or more.
The new scheme known as ‘DR15′ expands on the compensation already available to customers.
Prior to today, passengers were able to claim for journeys delayed by 30 minutes or more. Passengers can now claim up to 25% of the single fare back if delayed by between 15 and 29 minutes.
The introduction of ‘DR15′ comes in addition to the special compensation package announced for Northern and TransPennine Express passengers who experienced disruption as a result of the May 2018 timetable change. More than £1 million has been paid out in compensation since then.

What did the officials say?
Andrew Jones said:
“Extending delay repay to cover 15 minutes worth of delays is the right thing to do for Northern passengers. Our priority is delivering the reliable service passengers deserve, but when things go wrong people must be compensated fairly and quickly.
“We are also investing £15 million on enhancements for passengers across the North; ensuring we deliver improvements that passengers want alongside a more comfortable and punctual service.”
Richard Allan, Deputy Managing Director of Northern said:
“We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the disruption to rail services earlier this year and have paid special compensation to more than 11,000 passengers since the summer.
“With the launch of ‘DR15′, those who experience day to day delays will be able to claim the compensation they want and deserve. Our team works hard to deliver a consistent and punctual service, but delays do happen and extending the scheme is the right thing to do for customers.”

They don’t even reply to their current 30 minuet claims
Northern should be stripped. Forget about delay repay on what Northern are doing. They should be stripped.
But there has been a petition about Northern to be stripped from its franchise. As there are so many angry commuters who use Northern who have literally had enough.
