Severn Valley Railway (SVR) is on the 2024 shortlists for three categories in the prestigious Heritage Railway Association (HRA) awards:
- Diesel and Electric Locomotion: SVR diesel events team has been shortlisted for the two 2023 gala events celebrating fifty years of main line diesel preservation, the Spring Diesel Gala and the Autumn Diesel Bash.
- The Morgan award for Rolling Stock Preservation; SVR has been shortlisted for the restoration of LMS carriage 24617
- Team of the year: the Class 50 Alliance, based at the SVR, was nominated in recognition of its having provided locomotives for one hundred main line rail tours, and has now made the shortlist.
The Severn Valley Railway is a standard gauge heritage railway located in the West Midlands counties of Shropshire and Worcestershire.
The Heritage Railway Association awards are held every year, and the HRA will announce this year's 2024 winners will at a gala dinner in Brighton on Saturday 10 February.
