Many of South Western Railway’s (SWR) stations are set to provide customers with brighter and a more-welcoming appearance thanks to the latest round of a multi-million-pound repainting scheme.

The £1.5m programme started in 2021, and in 2021/2022 alone 57 stations across the SWR network have been repainted both internally and externally. The result has been better looking and more-inviting stations for customers from London to Devon.

The stations that have been repainted are:

  • Sunningdale and Windsor & Eton Riverside (Berkshire);
  • Axminster, Feniton, Honiton, Whimple (Devon);
  • Branksome, Christchurch, Hamworthy, Parkstone, Upwey, Wareham, and Wool (Dorset);
  • Andover, Ashurst New Forest, Cosham, Grateley, Hedge End, Hilsea, Hinton Admiral, Liphook, Lymington Pier, Lymington Town, Micheldever, Overton, Petersfield, Southampton Central, Sway, and Winchester (Hampshire);
    Brading, Ryde Esplanade, Ryde St John (IOW);
  • Barnes, Chessington North, Chessington South, Fulwell, Hampton, Hampton Wick, Kew Bridge, Norbiton, Queenstown Road, Richmond, St Margaret’s, and Strawberry Hill (SW London);
  • Crewkerne (Somerset);
  • Addlestone, Chertsey, Egham, Farncombe, Hersham, Milford, Stoneleigh, Thames Ditton, Witley, Woking, and Worplesdon (Surrey) and Salisbury (Wiltshire).

Later this year, a further round of repainting will start which will see a further 40 stations across the network refreshed.

Christian Neill, South Western Railway’s Director of Customer Experience, said:

“At South Western Railway, we want to offer our customers the very best experience for the entirety of their journey with us – including as they pass through our stations.

“Our ongoing station repainting programme is just one way that we are improving the SWR experience for customers using our services. We hope the smarter new look of the stations benefitting from this round of improvements will make their journey with us even more enjoyable.”
