TransPennine Express has made a brand new comedy mini-series which sees Vernon Kay reminiscing with Paddy McGuinness onboard one of their trains
The mini-series is called ‘Comedy Connections’ and features the two funny men talking and is only available on TransPennine Express’ (TPE) onboard Exstream service or their website.
A clip of the film reveals Paddy talking about his visits to Afflecks Palace during the 90s, his fashion sense and how Peter Kay’s well-loved ‘garlic bread’ joke actually started life as ‘baked beans’.
TPE’s Exstream is a free onboard entertainment facility that gives passengers a choice of Hollywood films and binge-worthy dramas to stream directly to their mobile devices or laptops. The service has over 150 shows and films available and include dramas such as Gunpowder or Versailles and films like The Good Liar and Joker. Younger passengers can also access children’s TV such as Ben 10 and Adventure Time.
For passengers who prefer something different to TV, there is a choice of popular magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health and Stylist along with newsfeeds via Reuters and several newspapers.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director at TransPennine Express, said: “Since launching our Exstream entertainment service, thousands of travellers have read their favourite magazines, caught up on hit shows and watched Oscar-winning films, all from the comfort of their seats.
“Our customers can now be kept company by the likes of Cillian Murphy, Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen as they head towards their Northern and Scottish destinations, or can get lost in a host of magazines and podcasts. The free service is there for all to enjoy.”
Exstream also includes a live real-time journey tracker, so passengers can keep tabs on their arrival times, onward connections, platform information and bus connections, making for stress-free journey planning.
Also available are a series of podcasts on loneliness, each exploring a separate theme which is part of a joint campaign with the Campaign to End Loneliness to both support and raise awareness of the issues of loneliness.
Passengers will need to download the TPE App from the app store to gain access to Exstream, which will also allow them to seamlessly connect using WiFi on their next journey.
