From December this year, Hull Trains, part of FirstGroup PLC, will be running more trains than ever before.
The number of commuters has steadily increased over the last few months as their confidence in travel continues.
Hull Trains has renewed confidence in returning passengers and will be increasing the number of trains back to pre-pandemic numbers. From 12th December there will be 94 services a week direct from Hull to London (previously the highest was 92).
There will be an extra train service on Sundays to increase it match Saturdays services of six a day. There will be an extra seventh service that will be part of the normal weekday timetable.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the train lengths will increase to ten cars to allow extra seats for Christmas shopping and visits to family & friends but also in readiness for growing demand in 2022.
The extra trains are welcomed by all involved with Hull Trains, as during their 21-year history, the pandemic has been the most challenging times. There were three incidents where trains had to be suspended by Hull Trains, with no government support as an open-access operator.
David Gibson said “This represents a significant milestone for Hull Trains as we grow back to recovery and beyond,”
“We are welcoming back loyal passengers, as well as enticing new passengers to rail. Our trains are some of the most modern and environmentally friendly on the rail network and we are determined to provide safe, reliable and comfortable journeys.”
“Delivering the highest levels of service ever offered by Hull Trains will allow us to break back to profitability and drive the business forward strongly and with confidence.”
