Train Operator Greater Anglia has announced that 63 stations across their network have been reaccredited with ‘Secure Stations’ status.

The ‘Secure Stations’ scheme recognises where the train operator has worked with British Transport Police and others to implement high standards of safety and security at the railway stations.

The status is awarded for management practices, station design, the security along with passenger safety at the stations in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

To achieve this Greater Anglia have since the start of the franchise in 2016 been upgrading CCTV, lighting, help points and secure cycle storage.

Guidance has also been provided to staff about vigilance and security working with the British Transport Police.

Mark Tye, Greater Anglia’s Safety Compliance Manager, said, “In the recent reassessment, we were delighted to retain Secure Stations status for 63 stations on our network.
