Following two years of work, and a nine-day closure, new on the Sidcup, Grove Park, and Bromley North lines through is now in use.

Passengers have been thanked for their patience by during the disruption.

The old system that has been replaced has been in use since the 1970s and had become unreliable and difficult to maintain.

The new system, now controlled by Three Bridges Rail Operating Centre, will mean fewer faults, fewer delays and better journeys for passengers.

Hither Green, Grove Park and Lee stations now have a turnback capability meaning more trains can run when they are engineering work or unplanned delays.

Deep cleaning, painting, platform and canopy repairs at Chislehurst, Elmstead Woods, Grove Park, Sundridge Park, Bromley North, Lee, Mottingham and New Eltham stations have also been completed.

Work to improve Hither Green and Chislehurst stations will continue over the next few months along with the removal of the old signalling kit.

  1. I’m still surprised that Southeastern operates a shuttle service between Grove Park and Bromley North with using Class 466 2-Car EMUs. Which they operate every half-hourly Mondays-Fridays & Saturdays and hourly on Sundays.
