Heathrow Express has announced that it has been awarded the ‘Friendly WiFi’ safe certification.
This proves their WiFi service is keeping passengers safe by filtering out inappropriate content throughout the train company’s 15-minute journey.
This is because Heathrow Express have proven that their WiFi filters deny access to pornography and webpages known to host indecent images of children and advertisements or links to such content.
The scheme is a government-initiated safe certification standard for public WiFi run by RDI (UK).
What did the officials say?
Les Freer, Director of Heathrow Express said:
“We are proud to be the first airport express service to be Friendly WiFi accredited which confirms our long history of safe and secure browsing. It’s important for our customers to stay connected, but it is equally important for them to enjoy a safe, comfortable browsing environment.”
Bev Smith, Director of Friendly WiFi added:
“I am thrilled to see Heathrow Express become the first express service to become Friendly WiFi certified. I understand that Heathrow Express has always been an early adopter of technology, and this accreditation proves that they are also a safe provider. Whilst working with them we saw their passion for delivering a safe service alongside a service with a high level of customer care. I am looking forward to working with them to communicate this to their passengers.”
John Carr, OBE, Secretary of the UK’s Children’s Charities’ Coalition on Internet Safety said:
“The adoption of the Friendly WiFi certification by Heathrow Express is a demonstration of their commitment to online safety and the support for the great work that is happening in the UK in this space. I congratulate Heathrow Express for being one of the leaders in driving standards in this sector.”
