Steam locomotive 45690 Leander will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 13th July 2019.
The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour. 45690 Leander is hauling the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.
Please note: we believe this tour to be part-hauled by 45690 Leander. However, this has not currently been confirmed by RTC and is subject to change.
The railtour departs London Euston behind an electric locomotive at approximately 07:10 am.
The railtour will then leave London Euston, bound for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Milton Keynes Central (07:45), Rugby (08:23), Nuneaton (08:43), Crewe (09:36) and Preston (10:25) before arriving at Carnforth Down and Up Goods Loop at 10:50.
Here, the 45690 Leander will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with the locomotive at 11:24, steaming through Oxenholme (11:43) and Penrith (12:21), it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 12:41.
After around an hour in Carlisle, 45690 will depart Carlisle at 14:12 bound for London Euston. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (14:37) and will stop for water at Appleby (14:58).
Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 15:56, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (16:15) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 16:22.
From here, 45690 will pass through Clitheroe (17:09) and Blackburn (17:34) before arriving into Preston at 17:56.
At Preston, 45690 is taken off the train, and an electric locomotive will take the same path back to London Euston, calling at Crewe (19:27), Nuneaton (20:25), Rugby (20:50) and Milton Keynes Central (21:19).
The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of London Euston at 22:15.
