First steam locomotive hauled Scarborough Spa Express of 2019 this Thursday

Steam locomotive No.45699 Galatea will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in York and Seamer on Thursday 20th June 2019.

The Jubilee locomotive is hauling the York to Scarborough leg of the Scarborough Spa Express, which originates in Carnforth.

The heritage diesels will depart Carnforth at 07:09 am and will pass through Lancaster (07:29), Preston (07:53), Blackburn (08:37), Accrington (08:47), Burnley Manchester Road (09:06), Hebden Bridge (09:22), Brighouse (09:42), Wakefield Kirkgate (10:15), and York Holgate Loop (10:53), where 45699 will be added.

The steam locomotives will depart York at approximately 12:09 am.

The railtour will then leave York, bound for the Scarborough, where it will steam through Malton (12:45) and Seamer (13:09) before arriving at Scarborough at 13:17.

After around 4 hours at the seaside town, 45699 Galatea will depart for Carnforth, steaming through Seamer (17:20) and Malton (17:44) before arriving at York at 18:15, where the steam locomotive is taken off the train and is replaced by diesel locomotives.

From York, the diesel locomotives will head back to Carnforth via Wakefield Kirkgate (19:48), Hebden Bridge (20:46), Accrington (21:22), Blackburn (21:33), Preston (22:05), Lancaster (22:42) and Carnforth (22:58).
