Friday 4th January 2019 saw LMS Black Five Locomotive No. 45212 head from Carnforth Steamtown to Toton TMD
45212 was heading to Toton TMD for tyre turning
This must be the first time 45212 has visited Chesterfield since the BR steam days in the 1960s
The move was also a rare sight through Chesterfield as it is rare any steam loco goes on platform 2 as they usually go on platform 3
45212 arrived at Chesterfield 3 minutes early at 20:05 and departed at 20:07 15 minutes early
Information about 45212:
- Designed by Sir William Stanier
- Built by Armstrong Whitworth in Newcastle in 1935
- 3rd August she hauled the very last steam hauled scheduled service from Preston to Blackpool North

- She has spent most of her life working on preserved railways
- After an overhaul in 2017 she returned to the mainline for the first time since 1968 on loan to Ian Riley
- She now travels the country on mainline railtours and visiting preserved railways
