The Mid Hants Railway has announced that the sponsored walk of the railway will be returning this November.
The walk is to raise funds to preserve an important part of the heritage railway. Walk The Line will be returning on the 10th November 2018.
The walks are a fantastic opportunity to see the line from a different angle, whilst playing an important part in making sure the line operates for many years to come.
The money raised from the walks will be used to re-ballast a section of 1000 yards of track at Wanders Curve between Medstead and Four Marks and Ropley.
Walkers aged 16 and above are expected to raise a minimum of £10 sponsorship or be willing to make a donation of at least that amount. Walkers under 16 are encouraged to raise sponsorship but it is not expected. They must, however, be accompanied on the walk by somebody over the age of 16.
All walks will begin between 10 am and 11 am. Trains on the line will not be running.
There will be three lengths of walks for families to choose from. These are:
- 3 Miles – this family stroll starts with a free vintage bus ride from Alresford to Ropley then a three-mile walk back to Alresford
- 6 Miles – downhill runs from Medstead and Four Marks Station to Alresford.
- 10 Miles – this walk is from Alton station to Alresford to offer a more challenging route for adventurous families.
