The West Somerset Railway has announced that steam locomotive 80104 is now unable to attend their Autumn Steam Gala.

This cancellation is due to Swanage resident, No.30120, being announced as a failure, and therefore the Swanage Railway is now short of locomotives to allow the Standard 4 tank to leave to attend the gala.

The is searching for a late replacement for No.80104, but it is going to be difficult to find one at this short notice.

Despite this cancellation, there is still an intensive timetable in operation across the 4 days of the gala – which is being held from the 27th September 2018 until the 30th September 2018.

Along with the home fleet, there is still 5 locomotives visiting the line for all to enjoy, these are:

  • British Railways Southern Region Light Pacific 34046 “Braunton” – in the guise of 34052 ‘Lord Dowding’.
  • LMS Ivatt Class 2 Tank 41312
  • British Railways Standard 5MT 73082 “Camelot”
  • British Railways (Western Region) 7820 “Dinmore Manor”
  • British Railways (Western Region) 7822 “Foxcote Manor”

This is still an impressive amount of locomotives running at the gala, with the timetable available here.

If there are any updates as to a late visitor, we will let you.

Let us know in the comments if you are attending!
