Greater Anglia has announced that the good things about Essex are set to be showcased to people in Cambridge tomorrow as the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership showcase to the public.
Volunteers will be running a stall throughout the day to raise the profile of Essex.
They will also be promoting how easy it is to visit Cambridge using the Greater Anglia services.
Also being promoted will be some of Essex’s best-loved attractions, these include Southend’s ‘Adventure Island’ leisure park, Colchester Castle and Clacton Pier.
What did the officials say?
Paul Haynes, Greater Anglia’s Community Partnerships Manager, said:
“This is an innovative idea by the Community Rail Partnership and I hope lots of people will visit their stand as they pass through the station to find out about the great days out or staycations they can enjoy by rail.
“Essex is easy to reach from Cambridge by taking a Greater Anglia via Ipswich or London Liverpool Street – and we’ve recently reduced our fares to Liverpool Street even further, making it a great time to travel further afield.”
Jayne Sumner of the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership said:
“I’m looking forward to bringing the delights of our rural rail lines and Essex attractions to a new audience and I hope it will encourage more people to come and discover our fantastic county by rail.”
