London Northwestern Railway has announced that it will be laying on an additional service for passengers travelling to the London Marathon this weekend.
The marathon is being held in central London on Sunday 22nd April 2018. Competitors and supporters travelling into the capital from the Home Counties will be able to take advantage of this additional early morning – it allows them to arrive well ahead of the race start.
The train that the train operating company is laying on will be 12 carriages in length.
The train will be running 30 minutes before normal service usually begins.
The train will depart Milton Keynes Central at 6:12 am and arrives in London Euston at 7:19 am.
The train will call at the following stations:
- Bletchley – 06:15 am
- Leighton Buzzard – 06:23 am
- Berkhamsted – 06:38 am
- Hemel Hempstead – 06:46 am
- Apsley – 06:50 am
- Kings Langley – 06:53 am
- Watford Junction – 06:58 am
- Harrow & Wealdstone – 07:04 am
- Euston – 07:19 am
What did the officials say?
Steve Helfet, Head of West Coast Services at London Northwestern Railway, said:
“The Marathon is one of the biggest events in London’s calendar and attracts a huge number of runners and spectators from across the country.
“We want to make sure that runners and their supporters can get to the start line with plenty of time to spare and this additional, early service will provide an extra option for those looking to travel in by train.”
