Steam locomotive, Peckett 1555 “Ivor the Engine”, has been advertised for sale by its current owner.
A brief history of 1555
1555 was built in 1920 at Peckett & Sons Ltd’s Bristol Works, 1555 being the engine’s works number.
The engine is standard gauge, featuring a 0-4-0ST wheel arrangement. The tank entered preservation in 1970 and has been seen operating on a number of lines.
Currently, 1555 is located at the Swindon & Cricklade Railway, where the engine is stored due to an expired boiler ticket.
Up for sale
Recently, 1555 has advertised for sale, with an asking price of £35,000. The tank comes in ‘as seen’ condition, with the license to run 1555 as “Ivor the Engine” included in the asking price.
