The Nene Valley Railway has announced that A4 No. 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ is to return to the heritage railway in 2018.
The locomotive will be visiting from the 30th August until the 3rd September 2018.
Whilst at the NVR, the A4 will take part in Driver Experience Courses, and Fish and Chip trains. The locomotive will star alongside 34081 ’92 Squadron’ at the railways ‘Pacifics Weekend’ special event.
This will be probably the last time the locomotive visits the Nene Valley Railway before she retires from service in 2019 and is placed in a museum alongside 61994 ‘The Great Marquess’ in Fife, Scotland.
What about timetables and fares?
More details on the event will come soon, including, timetables, fares, and information on the driver experience course (Yes you really can have the opportunity to drive this wonderful machine!).
