A1 Steam Locomotive Trust wins two awards

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has announced that they have won two awards at last nights Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards Ceremony.

The first award is the Steam Railway Magazine Award. The trust, that owns A1 No. 60163 ‘Tornado‘, won this awards for reaching out with the steam locomotive and bringing railways to new audiences, including being on the big cinema screen (Paddington 2), the 100mph run and the Settle to Carlisle Plandampf.

The second award which the trust won was the John Coiley Locomotive Engineering Award. They were awarded this award for getting Tornado certified for 90 mph running on the national rail network.

Mark Allatt, Graeme Bunker-James, Huw Parker, David Elliott and Rob Morland received the awards on behalf of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.

Here is our video of Tornado taking over from a diesel service for three days between Skipton and Appleby. The Plandampf is one of the reasons the A1SLT won the Steam Railway Magazine Award.
