Steam Dreams launches day trips to Christmas Markets in York, Lincoln, Bath and Chichester

This winter, Rail Co. is offering four special Christmas Market tours to York, , Bath, and Chichester.

Travel will be in newly refurbished and festively decorated carriages, recently featured on My5’s World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys. Haulage will be behind a steam locomotive. On the Chichester tour, there is the option of attending a carol service at St. John’s Chapel in Chichester.

Last year, Steam Dreams ran Christmas Market trips from Southend to Oxford, King’s Cross to York, Ealing Broadway to Lincoln, and Paddington to Bath.

The first trip is on Thursday, 17th November from London Kings Cross, , or Stevenage to York. There will be the chance to explore the quaint cobbled streets of York and enjoy the St Nicholas Fair in its 30th anniversary year. There will also be the chance to visit the stunning Minster with its renowned Rose window or the National Railway Museum. The cost is from £129pp.

On Friday, 2nd December, there is a tour from Ealing Broadway, Finsbury Park, or Hertford North to Lincoln. Guests will be welcomed on board with a festive tipple as the steam-hauled train makes its way to Lincoln with its numerous boutique stores and Christmas Marke. The market takes place in the medieval square between the Norman Castle and the Gothic Cathedral and features over 150 stalls. The cost is from £129pp.

On Monday, 5th December, a trip is on offer from or Staines to the roman city of Bath for its Christmas market with 170 wooden chalets. Whilst in Bath guests can also marvel at some of Europe’s finest architectural sights including the Roman Baths and Pump Room, Pulteney Bridge, the Abbey, and Royal Crescent. The cost is from £129pp.

The final trip is from to Chichester on Friday, 9th December. Guests can enjoy the city’s Christmas Market held in the grounds of its Cathedral, with over 50 traditional chalets selling wares from a variety of independent traders. There is also the option to attend a Carol Service at the Georgian St. John’s Chapel, just 5 away from the Cathedral and Christmas Market. The cost is from £139pp.

Various travels options are available as follows:

  • Pullman Style Dining from £329pp offers a premium railway dining experience. Luxurious carriages feature dining tables adorned with the finest glassware and crockery, and complemented by fresh flowers. Passengers will be welcomed on board with a glass of bubbly before being served a traditional breakfast with all the trimmings. On the return journey, canapes are served before a sumptuous evening meal with a half bottle of wine per person.
  • In First Class from £209pp passengers are seated around either tables for four or tables for two in elegant 1950s carriages. Passengers will be welcomed with a glass of Bucks Fizz and served a delicious combination of sweet and savoury treats for both the outward and return journeys.
  • Premium Standard from £129pp offers passengers complimentary tea and coffee, and travel in comfortable refurbished seating and a souvenir booklet about the day. Guests can bring their own hampers or purchase a selection of festive snacks and drinks from the new Buffet Car.
