Huge Increase In Train Seats For Bristol Train Passengers

Great Western Railway Class 166 set to operate in Bristol

Great Western Railway have recently announced that they have increased seats on Bristol trains by over 80%!

More seats and better trains will be seen between Bristol Parkway and Weston-super-Mare.

The old trains have now been replaced by newer rolling stock. This means passengers between Bristol and Weston-super-mare will have a much better trip to work!

The trains will also be stopping at all stations betweeen the two destinations.

have replaced former two carriage 166 ‘Turbo’ units with more seats, WiFi, better utilitis and also better Air Conditioning.

The new GWR 166 Three Carriage units will enter service next week and will provide 118 more seats per train.

The first three car 166 units began operating the Severn Beach Line back in July. Now, the new trains are set to operate between Cardiff and Tauton (via Bristol) soon!

What did the officials say?

Great Western Railway Managing Director Mark Hopwood said “We know that our suburban Bristol services are some of our most in demand, and I am delighted to see even more of the improvements we promised coming into place.

He added “These trains from London and the Thames Valley will offer a significant change in passenger experience, and with the introduction of new Intercity Express Trains last week already carrying thousands of passengers, it also marks the continuation of the greatest fleet upgrade in in a generation for the people of Bristol.”

  1. The 166 are so noisy when ideling in the station :(. A really low frequency drone that passes straight through neigbouring dwellings. AWFUL 🙁
    Dont forget these are not new, still 25 years old units.
    A resisdant adjacent to the Severn Beach line. Goodluck to those on the Tauton line, my thoughts are with you.
