Train operator (TPE) has shown its support for local communities by donating five benches to Brocklesby Park Cricket Club in .

The benches became spare after TransPennine Express replaced benches at some of its stations with newer, more accessible ones.

Freight operator kindly transported the benches to Brocklesby Park Cricket Club's home at Keelby Sports Ground on the outskirts of Grimsby.

A big thank you to TransPennine Express for donating these benches

Brocklesby Park Cricket Club was established after the Second World War, although cricket has been played at the ground for over 150 years.

Despite many setbacks, the club is still going strong, possibly due to the character of its ground, with magnificent views, old-world charm, and changing facilities that have scarcely changed since cricket was first played there.

The club runs teams in the East Lindsey League on weekends, and the West Wold Evening League on midweek evenings. It also manages to play around half a dozen friendly fixtures at weekends.

As seen by the donations of benches to Brocklesby Park Cricket Club, TransPennine Express often becomes involved in community projects beyond the day-to-day function of running a railway service.

TransPennine Express has also commissioned a mural at Hull Paragon Station that was unveiled last November to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the station's opening.

We have improved station seating to include features such as armrests or higher-level seats to assist those with mobility issues.

“Not wanting the benches to go to waste, we thought they should have a new home in the local community, where they will take on a new lease of life.

Steve Gilder, Lead Sustainability Manager for TransPennine Express

A big thank you to TransPennine Express for donating these benches; they will go a long way to helping make our cricket ground a more welcoming place for teams to play and the local community to visit.
