Passengers booking journeys through Virgin Trains Ticketing can look forward to a £5 discount on their next trip.
The discount applies to a booking on any train to anywhere, if made through Virgin Trains Ticketing.
New customers will get an additional discount, as they will have another £5 off a second purchase. Customers can make further savings as there is no booking fee on any ticket and split ticketing options are applied. People will also have the chance to use the Virgin Points they accrue towards discounts on future train travel. On average, a £5 discount represents 15% off the price of a rail ticket.
Anyone wanting to book will need to download the Virgin Trains Ticketing app, register or sign-in to a Virgin Red account and then make the purchase with Virgin Trains Ticketing. Once the ticket is booked, a promo code will be sent out which can be redeemed by logging in to Virgin Red, going to Account and then to Promo codes. Points will then be awarded to enable the £5 discount on the next ticket purchased.
Customers booking any train ticket across Great Britain via the app will earn three Virgin Points for every £1 spent. These points can be saved and used to save money on future train travel purchased through Virgin Trains Ticketing. Virgin Points can also be earned and spent with Virgin Red – Virgin's Group-wide rewards club – where hundreds of additional rewards can be found.
Nearly half of people travelling by train admit that they are not fully clued up on the best ways to save money, with the same proportion saying they would travel more if they could use loyalty points to reduce prices. That could amount to a considerable sum of money saved, since a quarter of British people travel by train at least once a week.
