Virgin Red launches new train ticketing app with customer rewards

Virgin Red's train booking platform Virgin Trains Ticketing (VTT) is now available to download and use for booking tickets for travel in England, Scotland and Wales

Virgin Trains Ticketing (VTT) has been up and running for over a year as part of Virgin Red which is the Virgin Group's rewards club and now, non-members can book their train journeys using VTT. The innovative move is hoped to push and move the market forward for consumers by providing them with a more rewarding approach to travel.

Registered users of VTT can book train tickets whilst being rewarded for their loyalty with three Virgin Points for every £1 spent on any train journey in Britain, whether for work, visiting family and friends or going on holiday

As Virgin Points never expire, they can be redeemed via Virgin Red on hundreds of rewards from something simple as a sausage roll, coffee, a meal out or cinema tickets to exciting experiences like holidays and flights, VIP concert tickets in the Virgin Red Room, Virgin Experience Days or sailing on a Virgin Voyages ship. The reward points can also be donated to charity.

With no booking fees for e-tickets which can be viewed via the VTT app at any point and can be downloaded to a phone or Apple Wallet. Customers can also check out as a guest without the need to sign in or register for a Virgin Red account. However only people with a registered Virgin Red account can claim points. Virgin Red is free to sign up to and log-ins for both of the apps are the same.

Mark Plowright who previously worked at Eurostar, Virgin Trains East Coast and London North Eastern Railway was recently appointed as Virgin Trains Ticketing Director.

VTT is just one of many ways that people can earn Virgin points, other ways include shopping online at John Lewis & Partners, Clarks, Currys, Argos, Very and Booking.com, ordering a takeaway with Just Eat, switching a current account to Virgin Money, treating yourself to Virgin Wines or taking out an annual membership with the National Trust.
