Industrial action to affect Chiltern Railways services between 29th September and the 6th of October

The rail operator is warning customers that it will not be operating any services on the 30th of September and the 4th of October

has issued a warning to its customers regarding upcoming industrial action by Union which will affect the rail operators network from Friday the 29th of September to and including Friday the 6th of October.

Strike days on Saturday the 30th of September and Wednesday the 4th of October will see Chiltern Railways unable to run any services across its network.

Further to the strike days, ASLEF is also carrying out an overtime ban which will be in place on Friday the 29th of September and also Monday the 2nd, Tuesday the 3rd, Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th of October. The overtime ban will see Chiltern Railways operating a reduced service over the majority of its network and will vary by route and station. The action will also see some early morning and late-night alternations to service with advice issued to customers to check their travel plans for the entire journey ahead of leaving.

Friday the 6th of October will see carried out by union on the network, which will impact services on the . Chiltern Railways services will therefore, not be able to call at stations between Harrow on the Hill and on this date.

Prior to the strike action, engineering work will also see passenger journeys affected with rail replacement buses operating on some routes this week.

A brief overview of service levels during the industrial action period are as follows:

Friday the 29th of September:

  • Early-morning and late-night alterations will be in operation
  • The regular timetable will operate between and /
  • The regular timetable will operate between and
  • Engineering work taking place between and Marylebone will see services operate before 10:00 and after 18:00. Between 10:00 and 18:00 rail replacement buses will serve stations between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham providing a connection to the London Underground network.

Saturday the 30th of September and Wednesday the 4th of October:

  • No Chiltern Railways services on any route

Monday the 2nd and Tuesday the 3rd of October:

  • Early-morning and late-night alterations will be in operation
  • The regular timetable will operate between London Marylebone and Oxford
  • One train per hour will operate between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street in both directions. Extra trains will be added during peak times.
  • One train per hour will operate between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway in both directions. Extra trains will be added during peak times.
  • Shuttle services will be in operation between Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington Spa from 07:30 and 19:00
  • No service at , , Sudbury & Harrow Road, and stations.

Thursday 5 October and Friday 6 October:

The timetable will be as listed above, however, the following changes will be implemented:

  • Thursday the 5th of October will see Chiltern Railways services unable to call at stations between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham until 08:00. This is due to strike action by RMT on the previous day on the London Underground network.
  • Friday the 6th of October will also see Chiltern Railways unable to call at stations between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham, due to RMT strike action taking place on the London Underground network.
