Weekend engineering works to disrupt Chiltern Railways services

is reminding its passengers that engineering works and line closures will affect services in some areas of the network over the remaining two weekends this month.

Saturday 23, Sunday 24 September and Sunday 1 October

Saturday 23 and Saturday 30 September

  • Buses will replace trains between and from 23:00, due to engineering works.
  • Chiltern advising passengers travelling during the late evening on this day to check before they travel.

Sunday 24 September

  • The railway will be closed in the Village area, due to engineering works.
  • Passengers between Marylebone and stations to , Islip, and are advised to travel via .
  • Buses will replace trains between Bicester North and Bicester Village stations for onward travel.

Friday 29 September

  • The railway will be closed between and between 10:00 and 18:00 on Friday 29 September, due to engineering works.
  • Rail replacement buses will operate between these stations.

Sunday 1 October

  • The railway will close between Haddenham & Thame Parkway and Bicester until approximately 08.35 due to engineering works.
  • Rail replacement buses will operate between Princes Risborough and Banbury/Oxford.
  • Passengers travelling during the early morning are advised to check before they travel.

Chiltern Railways has espressed its thanks to passengers for their patience and understanding during the engineering works, and has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

It has also pledged to inform passengers whether it will be able to run any trains during upcoming industrial action by , once the union confirms the next steps in its campaign for a pay rise for train drivers that keeps pace with inflation.

Passengers can check their journey before they travel on the Chiltern Railways website or app.

  • It says that Chiltern services will not call at Kings Sutton, Lapworth and Hatton stations, and buses will replace trains., but it doesn’t says where these buses will go to.
    It also doesn’t make clear whether there will be trains between Oxford and Bicester Village.

    • If you are expecting to need to travel on any of the affected services then as mentioned at the end of the article you would be best checking their website for all the latest information.
