Today, 18th October, Locomotive Services Group has unveiled DBSO 9707 in its new livery.
A DBSO, or Driving Brake Standard Open, is a Mark 2 coach that was converted in 1979 (in 9707s case) that saw controls fitted to one end to allow the driver to use the controls of the locomotive without running it to the other end of the train.
9707, which was previously part of the Direct Rail Services fleet of coaches, is now the final piece of Locomotive Services Group's ScotRail Push-Pull Set and was released from the paint shop today.
A six coach set is now available to operate on the mainline with Crewe Diesel Preservation Groups' Class 47 No. 47712 Lady Diana Spencer.
Some more preparation work is needed before it can work railtours, but LSG says that it is expected that the train will operate its first train in early 2023.
