Class 31 locomotive to haul Scarborough Spa Express this Thursday

BR Class 31 No. 31128 & Class 33 No. 33029 will be back on the mainline and will be in Skipton and York on Thursday 16th September 2021.

The locomotives are hauling the Carnforth to York leg of the Scarborough Spa Express.

The heritage diesels will depart Carnforth at 07:40 and will pass through Hellifield (08:32), Skipton (08:53), Keighley (09:09), Shipley (09:20), Woodlesford (09:49), Church Fenton (10:20) and York Holgate Loop at 10:43, where a steam locomotive normally takes over the tour.

The steam locomotive will be at York between 11:18 and 11:26

The railtour will then leave York, bound for the Scarborough, where it will steam through Malton (12:03) and Seamer (12:23) before arriving at Scarborough at 12:31.

After around 4 hours at the seaside town, the steam locomotive will depart Scarborough at 16:41, steaming through Seamer (16:49) and Malton (17:13) before arriving at York at 17:49, where the steam locomotive is taken off the train and is replaced by 31128 and 33029.

From York, the diesel locomotives will head back to Carnforth via Woodlesford (19:18), Shipley (20:06), Keighley (20:17), Skipton (20:33), Hellifield (20:54), and Carnforth at 21:46.
