Two teenagers who launched a machete attack on a train at Liverpool Lime Street have been jailed after a police investigation.
Kyle Kearney, aged 18 from Wirral, was jailed for 8 years, whilst Bailey Doyle, aged 17, also from Wirral, was jailed for 9 years and 4 months.
The pair both pleaded guilty to GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article.
The pair attacked two victims as part of an feud onboard a train to Wigan at Liverpool Lime Street on Friday 19th March 2021.
The British Transport Police at the time provided RailAdvent with a statement after they attended reports of a serious incident at the station.
Upon spotting the two victims, Bailey and Kyle both unveiled the machetes with Kyle chasing one of the victims down the train with the machete. The second victim managed to stumble from the train onto the platform, where he was attacked by Bailey with the machete.
Both victims survived the attack.
Detective sergeant Ian Henderson said: “This was a horrific attack which left witnesses distraught and traumatised by what they saw, one witness in particular has been left severely distressed by the attack.
“Both Kearney and Doyle are extremely dangerous individuals, despite their age – it is nothing short of a miracle that neither victim were killed, although both sustained severe lacerations to the head and arms.”
