Train operator Transpennine Express has announced that extra train services to and from Scarborough are set to be introduced.
Extra services are planned to run between York and Scarborough next month, fitting in well with the summer holidays.
Some trains will also run through to Manchester again, making it easy for passengers who are looking for a trip to the beach.
The changes come into effect from the 16th August and are as follows:-
- 15.29 Manchester – Scarborough – daily service
- 15.34 Scarborough – Manchester – daily service
- 09.00 Manchester – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only
- 11.21 Scarborough – York – Saturdays/Sundays only
- 16.26 York – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only
- 18.11 Scarborough – Manchester – Saturdays/Sundays only
Commenting on the additional services, Luke Gardner, Long Term Planning Timetable Manager for TransPennine Express said: “Now that the school summer holidays have started, many families will be busy planning days out to keep their little ones entertained and a trip to the seaside is always a firm favourite.
“We are expecting our trains to and from Scarborough to be popular and wanted to introduce some extra services to and from the town to accommodate this. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers onboard and I would encourage people to plan their journeys in advance and book ahead.”
