Open Days resume at Darlington Locomotive Works to see P2 steam locomotive

The has confirmed regular open days at Darlington Locomotive Works will be taking place again shortly.

With thanks to easing COVID-19 measures and restrictions by UK Government, the P2 Steam Locomotive Company and can host open days.

Restarting from Saturday the 5th of June 2021, open days will be held on the first and third Saturday of each month.

Across the day, five 55 minute slots will be available to book, starting at 11am, with the final slot beginning at 3pm each day.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, groups are limited to six with face masks to be worn during the visit.

Guided by one of the many dedicated volunteers, you will be shown around and gain a greater insight into the work which goes on in Darlington Locomotive Works – a place where new build London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) / Eastern Region (ER) Peppercorn A1 No.60163 “Tornado” was completed in 2008, and where LNER P2 No.2007 “Prince of Wales” is currently under construction.
