Doncaster’s iPort Rail returns to six trains a day as demand increases

, in , has announced that they have welcomed back their sixth daily train to Felixstowe, bringing activity levels back to pre-COVID levels.

The new overnight service will operate six days a week and brings the number of daily services between Doncaster and Felixstowe up to three.

The terminal also runs a daily service to Southampton as well as two to Teesport, including a new service operated by Tesco.

Earlier this year they were the winners of two industry awards.

Steve Freeman, Managing Director of iPort Rail, said: “We are pleased to see the number of trains operating at iPort Rail return to pre-pandemic levels, which is reflective of the steady increase in activity we are seeing across supply chains throughout Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. Throughout this year, our terminal has played a key part in keeping these goods moving and supporting businesses, from local to national. We are more prepared than ever to continue helping companies navigate these uncertain times as we approach the end of the year.”

  • With 11,000 containers of PPE at Felixstowe, seriously affecting ops, perhaps more trains should be put on to get Felixstowe fit for a successful, no deal Brexit. The NHS can then move the PPE to where it wants to store it.
