Caledonian Sleeper makes great strides in reducing single-use plastic

Since the start of October, the has made great strides in reducing its use of plastic.

The company has been looking at ways to make its service more sustainable and is constantly working with its partners to help reduce its carbon footprint.

Single-use plastics in all Caledonian Sleeper’s Caledonian Double and Club rooms throughout its fleet have been replaced with eco-friendly refillable dispensers.

That has reduced its virgin plastic use by 81% and liquid waste use to 75%. In total, the company will achieve a reduction of nearly 400,000 single-use plastic bottles from its fleet each year.

Since 2015, guests on the sleepers have been supplied with bath and shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, handwashes, and body lotions supplied by ARRAN Sense of . ARRAN aims to minimise single-use plastics while maximising the amount of recyclable materials in its products. By the end of this year, all of its bottles will be made of 100% PCR (post-consumer recycled) material and the company will have eliminated virgin plastic from its supply chain.

ARRAN Sense of Scotland’s signature, After the Rain fragrance will be available in all of the new Caledonian Sleeper ARRAN branded refill dispensers.”
