Make Father’s Day a day to remember at Yorkshire railway

To make Father's Day a day to remember, the (NYMR) has a selection of memorable treats for his special day on 16th June.

As well as treating fathers to a memorable journey where they can immerse themselves in the incredible scenery and rich heritage culture, Father's Day coincides with the last day of the railway's Diesel Gala from Friday, 14th to Sunday, 16th June.

Guest locomotives will join the home fleet for a special intensive timetable, with many services having on-board buffet bars offering a selection of beers and ciders.

To make the day extra special, why not treat dad to a first-class experience of a delicious seasonal three-course meal, cooked and served onboard the Summer Moorlander, a Pullman Dining Train, during an 18-mile journey through the stunning North York Moors National Park between and .

Tickets for the Summer Moorlander cost £95 per person, or £399 for a four-person private coupe.

Alternatively, fathers can have a chance to win a Footplate Experience with a ticket in the railway's digital raffle, which is fundraising to support core infrastructure costs.

Tickets cost just £7.50 each for the chance to win a Footplate Experience worth £430 as part of the footplate crew for a 36-mile footplate ride.

At the end of the journey, the driver will present him with a souvenir certificate.

As well as the Summer Moorlander dining experience, new speciality services include Beer Tasting on Friday, 21st June, and Wine & Cheese Tasting on Tuesday, 25th July in a 1940s Great Western Saloon carriage.

The special services depart at 12:35 pm from Grosmont Station for a return journey to Pickering, arriving back at Grosmont Station at 3:20 pm. The experiences cost £89.50 per person for adults and a Designated Driver Package is also available.
