Police statement after person found on fire at East Lancashire railway station

The has released a statement following an incident this morning at an East railway station.

BTP officers were called at 06:27 this morning to station after reports came in reporting a person on fire at the station.

Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, but the British Transport Police say that the death is non-suspicious but a next-of-kin has not yet been identified.

The station was closed whilst forensic officers carried out an initial investigation but the station reopened at 10:35 and trains have now resumed.

Officers were called to Church and Oswaldtwistle Station at 6.27am this morning following reports of a person on fire at the location.  The person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The platform was closed whilst forensic officers carried out an initial investigation of the scene. The station reopened at 10.35am.

The death is non suspicious. We can confirm person is a man but NOK not yet identified.
