A new low-price fare of £1.50 is set to be introduced next week for passengers making short journeys on Nottingham's trams within certain dedicated ‘Short Hop' zones.
A ‘Tap On, Tap Off' Short Hop travel ticket will be introduced by Nottingham Express Transit (NET) on Tuesday, 2 April.
To take advantage of the new £1.50 fare, passengers travelling within one of the nine short hop zones need to tap their bank card or contactless mobile payment device at the start of their journey and again at the end.
Nottingham Express Transit introduced its contactless validation system in 2022, but until now, anyone travelling within a short hop zone could not use a contactless payment to take advantage of the low £1.50; they could only be purchased from a Ticket Vending Machine within the zone they were travelling.

Only those passengers taking advantage of the Short Hop ticket need to tap out when they complete their journey.
Passengers travelling beyond the limits of Short Hop zones only need to tap once on the validator at the start of their journey.
If passengers do not tap out when they complete their journey within the Short Hop zone, they will be charged for a full-price single or day ticket.
£1.50 Short Hop tickets will continue to be available to purchase from Ticket Vending Machines as normal.
Earlier this year there was a special offer on annual tickets were that offered a one-third saving on the normal price of annual season tickets. Last December, the future of the network was assured through a financial restructuring that secured its operation for the next ten years.

Nottingham has so much to do for people of all ages, and now it's even easier to see all the city has to offer for just £1.50 across our nine short hop zones which cover Hucknall, Bulwell, Clifton, Nottingham city centre and more.
Up until now, short hop travel tickets could only be bought through our ticket machines, however, now all passengers will need is their card or mobile payment device for quick and easy tap and go travel. It's worth noting though that passengers looking to benefit from £1.50 short hop travel will need to remember to tap on and off again, or they'll be charged for a full price single or day ticket. And, for those who are travelling outside the short hop zones, they need only tap on once and the required fee will be deducted from their account at the end of the day as usual.
