Transport for London (TfL) has reminded its passengers that London Underground's Northern Line will close between Golders Green and Edgware next month.
This is the first in a series of part-closures, which will enable a major upgrade of Colindale station, which includes building a larger ticket hall and installing a lift to allow step-free access to and around the station for the first time.
The station itself will close from Friday 7 June until December 2024.
The station is in north-west London and is in the Underground's Zone 4. Originally built in 1924; it was rebuilt in 1962 following severe bomb damage during the Second World War.
Colindale is one of the most deprived areas in London, and the station's redevelopment will help to enable 11,400 quality new homes to be built.
Colindale's population has grown by seventy per cent since 2011, and the ward in which the station is located is growing faster than any ward in the capital other than Stratford Olympic Park ward in Newham.
The section of the Northern line will close from Tuesday 2 until Thursday 11 April, and will close again over weekends in June and July this year, as follows:
- Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June
- Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 June
- Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 June
- Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 July
While the section is closed, no Tube trains will run to or from Brent Cross, Hendon Central, Colindale, Burnt Oak or Edgware stations.
Northern line trains will run as normal on the rest of the Northern line, including to and from Golders Green. Rail replacement buses will run between Golders Green and Edgware stations, and to Canons Park station for Jubilee line services.
TfL is publicising the temporary closures via targeted emails, posters and Public Address announcements at stations. It promises to update its Journey Planner and TfL Go app with the latest travel information, and is encouraging passengers to use these in order to plan their journeys.

Transport for London has explained that it needs to close parts of the Northern line because the track is very close to some of the construction sites for the station's upgrade.
The work includes piling, crane operation and demolition work, which cannot be carried out safely while trains are running.
While this section of track is closed, TfL will use the opportunity to carry out maintenance and engineering work on the track, which it promises will improve services and provide more reliable and comfortable journeys for passengers.
The upgrade project has received some money from the government's Levelling Up Fund.
