A pedestrian at in , Scotland will be closed for three days next weekend to allow to carry out vital improvement works.

From 23:00 next Friday, 9 February until 05:30 on Monday, 12 February, pedestrians will not be able to use the crossing, which is on Easter Cornton Road that runs between the B823 and the A9 roads. The crossing is a pedestrian-only crossing, with no vehicular access.

The closure is to allow engineers to re-align the crossing, known as Cornton 2, so that new gates can be installed in a different position to their current location. More secure fencing will be put in place and the miniature stop lights on each side of the line will be moved to the left-hand side of each gate.

Network Rail is liaising closely with the local community and Stirling Council to minimise the length of time that the crossing is closed.

Christopher Sharkey, Senior Programme Manager, Network Rail, said: “The planned work at Cornton pedestrian level crossing is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable railway in the area.

“While we appreciate that the short-term impact of this work is inconvenient, the long-term benefit is that it will minimise overall for both passengers and pedestrians while helping us to deliver a safe, reliable and resilient railway.

“Our thanks go to the community for their patience and understanding while we complete this vital work.”

“If anyone has any questions in relation to the work, they can call Network Rail's24-hr helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or email via our website www.networkrail.co.uk/contactus.
