Severn Valley Railway shortlisted for three heritage awards

Severn Valley Railway (SVR) is on the 2024 shortlists for three categories in the prestigious (HRA) :

  • Diesel and Electric Locomotion: SVR diesel events team has been shortlisted for the two 2023 gala events celebrating fifty years of main line diesel preservation, the Spring Diesel Gala and the Autumn Diesel Bash.
  • The Morgan award for Rolling Stock Preservation; SVR has been shortlisted for the of LMS carriage 24617
  • Team of the year: the Alliance, based at the SVR, was nominated in recognition of its having provided locomotives for one hundred main line rail tours, and has now made the shortlist.

The Severn Valley Railway is a standard gauge heritage railway located in the counties of and Worcestershire.

The Heritage Railway Association awards are held every year, and the HRA will announce this year's 2024 winners will at a gala dinner in on Saturday 10 February.

Managing director Gus Dunster said, “We're delighted we're shortlisted in not one, but three categories. These awards recognise the work of heritage railways all over the country, and competition is extremely strong. To be this strongly represented this year at the awards is a testament to the superb team spirit and skills that exist at the SVR.”
