Changes to East Midlands Railway services during Festive season

In line with its normal practice, East Railway (EMR) will not be running any services on Day or Boxing Day, and there will be changes to its services on other days during the Festive period.

is advising anyone intending to travel over Christmas or the New Year to double check their journey details when they plan their trips. During this period the start and finish times of services may be changed, and the last services of the day may finish a lot earlier than usual.

Detailed timetables can be found on East Midlands Railway's website here, but the following is a summary of the changes to Festive and New Year services:

Christmas Eve

  • Services will stop running earlier than normal.

Christmas Day

  • No services.

Boxing Day

  • No services.

Wednesday, December 27

  • A revised timetable will be in place with longer journey times and earlier/later trains because of to planned engineered works, and trains will not call at .
  • Rail replacement buses will operate all day between , , , and Market Harborough.

Thursday, 28 to Saturday, 30 December.

  • Trains will run to a normal timetable.

New Year's Eve

New Year's Day

  • Services will start later in the morning.

Monday, 1 to Thursday, 4 January 4

  • 20:49 to service will terminate at at 22:07. A rail replacement bus service will run between Sleaford and Peterborough.
  • 23:11 Peterborough to service will not run, but a rail replacement bus service will run instead.

Monday, 1 to Friday, 5 January – to Corby

  • Some late evening trains will terminate at Kettering.
  • Some trains will run earlier.
  • Early morning Corby to London trains will start from Kettering, with connecting buses running between Kettering and Corby.

Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “We look forward to welcoming customers over the festive period as they use our services to visit family and friends.

“Any customers planning to travel with us over this period are advised to double check the timings of services. There are a number of changes to start up and finish times, plus other amendments to the normal timetable on some days.”
